Since joining the Lenroot Group at Neuroscience Research Australia and the School of Psychiatry as a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow, I have been engaged in the study of healthy and atypical brain development in children and adolescents using structural and functional MRI, as well as a variety electrophysiological techniques such as the electroencephalograph (EEG), cardiovascular and electrodermal measures.

One of our latest projects concerns auditory hypersensitivity (hyperacusis) in Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). The goal is determine if there is a relationship between cortical sensory sound processing, anxious hyperarousal, and hyperacusis in ASD using electrophysiological measures. This may lead to a better understanding of the psychological and neurophysiological basis of hyperacusis in ASD, and provide a rational basis for design of interventions for this disorder. Other ongoing projects include an MRI study of emotional processing deficits in children with autism and conduct disorders, and an investigation of neurodevelopmental changes in decision making during childhood and adolescence.
